A simple top in 3 sections, to be placed on the respective upper compartments of the trolley: this is the shelf B—Line came up with for Joe Colombo’s multifunctional Boby storage trolley. Aesthetics and functionality in a single element that not only provides a flat surface for supporting bulky objects, but one that also prevents accidental scratches or nicks to the original top, in this way protecting it in the course of time.

The Architect Ignazia Favata, owner of the Joe Colombo Studio, and his assistant since 1968, clearly illustrates the importance of the ingenious transformable Multichair system, helping us to understand the innovative and pioneering vision of one of the greatest 20th century designers.

Salone del Mobile 2022, Milan. Hall 10 – Stand C09 Monographic exhibition on Joe Colombo at GAM Milan – Official Partner

The TIMELESS project that this photographic path illustrates, contains a series of unprecedented shots with a vaguely extemporaneous flavour.In a decidedly pop location, design meets an unpredictable and distant world: a gym, flooded with light and permeated by that air that is charged with movement and physical effort. A totally unique setting that kindles emotional perceptions.TIMELESS is the B—Line collection dedicated to the greatest designers of the past, masters and interpreters that reached the highest standards of essentially combined aesthetics and functionality.

B—Line introduces the latest integration into its collection’s TIMELESS line: another product designed by Joe Colombo in 1964, the SUPERCOMFORT armchair.Most certainly an iconic creation, which fully reflects the path leading to the recovery of design masterpieces that characterised the company ever since its inception in 1999.

Boby is part of the “MoMA Permanent Collection” in New York and of the “Triennale di Milano” and this extemporaneous and concrete photographic project is a journey through its numerous placings in the diverse environments of everyday life. A very natural dimension for this icon of Italian design which, more than 50 years since its creation, embodies, to the most demanding of levels, the indispensable concept of versatility and usability.

After thirteen editions and the conquest of several Emmy Awards, Ru Paul’s Drag Race, one of the most acclaimed reality shows in America, launched by Ru Paul in 2009, arrives in Italy.

In Carugo at the “ARgallery70” by Arredaesse, the “Design Night” will be in progress until December 20, 2021. An exhibition dedicated to the genius of Rodolfo Bonetto and to the Made in Italy “History of Design”.

The super enfolding polyurethane shell of the Hoop chair, designed by Karim Rashid for B—Line, takes on a new Olive Green colour. The new colour is an addition to the other three colours of the collection: white, black and dove grey. Made in water-painted fire-retardant material, Hoop, in the version with black and white steel frame is perfect for the outdoors.

This shade, chosen by B—Line for the 4/4 table designed by Rodolfo Bonetto in 1969, perfectly suits every part of your home, office or waiting room.This is all about the option CUMIN, already shown in the catalogue, on the colour palette for Joe Colombo’s Boby trolley storage unit.

New project by Studiopepe for the reorganisation of La Rinascente’s upper floors. Inspired by the Eighties, the new structure of the fourth floor in the centre of Milan draws on fluo colours for walls and display units, originating a rigorous and functional look. Among the materials, steel, plexiglass, maxi grit and silipol combine with extreme elegance, providing the whole with a skilful touch of modernity.

With the green light to open-air dining for restaurants and bar service, the need arises for making new outdoor spaces available for a gradual return to social life. B—Line’s outdoor collection lends itself perfectly to contemporary furnishings for terraces, verandas and decks, in the name of versatility, aesthetics and functionality. Among the B—Line designer creations suited to outdoors, the Fonda table designed by Maddalena Casadei most definitely features, available in two heights, with concrete base, metal frame and laminated top for outdoors (not water repellent).

Enriched with Beppe Brancato’s latest photos and with Martina Sanzarello’s styling, the graphic concept of the 2021 B—Line catalogue adheres perfectly to the aesthetic format and the idea of accessibility that identify the global path of the company. 

The exhibition titled “Italian Design. Achille Castiglioni and Joe Colombo. The two icons who have innovated the made in Italy design” has been under way in Seoul since March 25, and will be there until May 30, 2021.

Tommaso Caldera, born in 1986, is currently presenting his first design creation for B—Line.Graduated in Industrial Design at Milan’s Politecnico, he trained with Odo Fioravanti in Milan and Jonathan Olivares in New York. We’re in the heart of Lisbon’s picturesque Barrio Alto district. On the ground floor of an historic building with tall windows, a 220 sq.m area was transformed into a bright hairdressing salon, the GRIFFE HAIRSTYLE. From budding talents to established designers: Zanellato and Bortotto, a duo that in just a few years achieved status amongst those exhibiting in the most important cult design sites, boasting international awards such as the Red Dot Design Award. For B—line, they designed Bix, a small versatile and minimalistic armchair available in leather or fabric, perfectly integrating with both contract and home environments.

Multifaceted, eccentric and world-famous designer Karim Rashid, designed three eclectic chairs for the B—Line brand: Hoop, Woopy and Gemma, bearing witness to his genuine talent and a style that is iconic.

And now, after Favaretto & Partners, the German designer Michael Geldmacher is with us, taking us across the border to express his very personal insight on the Design-Covid theme.

The OKKO Hotels rises next to the charming Gare de l’Est Parisian Station, from which the first Orient Express departed in 1883. The design of the complex’s common areas was entrusted to Studiopepe of Milan, with a fluid concept being favoured, crossed by dividers and light partitions.

Summer always brims with new energies, vibrant drives and nature’s strong beckoning. To enjoy fully our little-great oases in the open, full of light, air, scents and colours, B—Line’s proposal for the outdoors creates an atmosphere well suited for domestic and contract settings dedicated to the food and hotel sectors.

Totally in steel, the new version of Toro, a chair with a strong figurative character, was launched by B—Line in 2017 and was the winner of the 2018 Iconic Awards prize.

B—Line introduces the new 2020 e-catalogue. Consistent with its corporate path and with the functionality-aesthetics combination, the current version presents itself in a totally renewed graphic design, recognisable in the first place by its new logo but also through a stylistic concept that is increasingly suited to the enterprises’ pursuits and production.

The legendary Boby trolley storage unit, re-edited by B—Line, sports a new colour. In addition to the most recently launched cumin-coloured version, B—Line pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of this ageless icon of design by proposing a limited and numbered INDIGO-coloured series of 150 items.

In taking over the legacy of the great masters of design and because of the urgency in perpetuating its contents, B—Line was born.

Boby is much more than a simple storage unit, it is THE trolley storage unit that has made the history of design.

The GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2019 was received by B—Line’s designer and new art director Maddalena Casadei for her Tran Tran Table.

B—Line’s new website and brand new logo are now online, precisely mirroring the company’s renewed identity and deeply rooted and unmistakable DNA.

Rodolfo Bonetto would now be 90 years old. Throughout his career as a designer, he won an impressive eight “Compasso d’Oro” awards, leaving the Italian design scenario with a huge heritage.A promising jazz drummer, in 1958 he decided to forsake a musical career, dedicating himself instead to full time industrial design, overwhelmed by an irresistible creative passion.

Aesthetics and functionality in the choice of a decorative element, but not only. Materic appearance, pattern and colours all sharpening perceptions, exercising an unwittingly sensorial seduction. Likewise, materials such as sheet plate and steel communicate both lightness and sturdiness, while wood lends warm and natural notes.

Joe Colombo made history with his original and dynamic intuitions, exemplified in flexible forms all projected towards the future. The creations stemming from his genius were nearly always distinguished by extreme modularity, not as an end in themselves, but dedicated to functionality and to a usability dictated by constantly evolving spaces and lifestyles.

The collection of B—Line tables is a veritable journey through signs, shapes and symbols. Strongly evocative designs, witness of a contemporary time and lifestyle. Real and valid suggestions following one another in the new section of the B—Line catalogue dedicated to tables and coffee tables created in wood, concrete, steel and polyethylene.

Designed by Maddalena Casadei, the layout of the B—Line Stand for the 58th Edition of the Salone del Mobile describes the evolution of a Company that knew how to seize the contemporary transformations in the way of living, working and moving about, all activities that, without distinction, flow into environments that are increasingly flexible and transversal.

Large, convivial, contemporary and dynamic. It’s the Tran Tran table, first new entry introduced by B—Line at Milan’s forthcoming “Salone del Mobile”. Tran Tran is a wooden table designed to conjugate working, meeting, eating: all repetitive activities that scan our everyday life and superimpose themselves in the new way of working, one that is continuously evolving into spaces that are increasingly hybrid and informal.

With colour as its leit-motiv, B—Line continues to pay homage to the design distinguishing the fabulous Seventies. After the Honey version introduced in January, Joe Colombo’s Boby trolley is now proposed in Verdigris, a delicate green tone.

For B—Line, 2019 begins with the pursuit of evolution and new colours. Joe Colombo’s multi-function trolley, re-proposed by B—Line in its course dedicated to the celebration of icons of design, is now honey-toned.

The year was 1999, and it all started with the idea of renewing the life and splendour of extraordinarily precious furnishing objects, even in the absence of the original moulds. B—Line begins in earnest: old drawings and the recovery of some inevitably age-marred pieces have brought to light veritable icons that made the history of design and whose loss seemed unacceptable. Examples of these are Joe Colombo’s Boby trolley storage unit and Multichair as well as Rodolfo Bonetto’s 4/4 coffee table. A company debut that was definitely more emotional than rational, but one that was to continue through time.

Good Design is one of the most prestigious awards for design on an international scale, annually awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. This tribute acknowledges and celebrates the work of designers and companies striving at global level to create and turn out products pursuing the canons of design and innovation.
