The Architect Ignazia Favata, owner of the Joe Colombo Studio, and his assistant since 1968, clearly illustrates the importance of the ingenious transformable Multichair system, helping us to understand the innovative and pioneering vision of one of the greatest 20th century designers.

“The Multichair is highly representative of Joe Colombo’s research since it incorporates the idea of both flexibility and modularity, while abiding with the canons of ergonomics. It integrates the combined functions of armchair and chair, by transcending purely conventional patterns; indeed, Joe Colombo adopts it in his own highly innovative home, alongside Rotoliving and the Cabriolet Bed, and again features it at New York’s MoMA, in the Total Furnishing Unit”.

Consisting of two upholstered elements that can also be used separately, the Multichair seating system lends itself to multiple configurations for diverse relaxation settings thanks to belts, featured on the sides of the cushions, that can be arranged in different positions.
Part of B—Line’s Timeless collection, the armchair is proposed in a brand new 2022/23 special edition, upholstered in Kvadrat Febrik’s SPRINKLES fabric in a shade of orange that complements the red and black versions already in the catalogue.

Sprinkles is characterised by liveliness, volume and comfort, the result of a sophisticated fabric overlay that creates a perfect kaleidoscopic effect for the Multichair seating’s futuristic character.
